Denver, CO – August 18, 2009 – National data center, colocation and peering provider, CoreSite, announced today a planned six Megawatt expansion of its Northern Virginia data center located in Reston at 12100 Sunrise Valley Drive. The additional capacity will be delivered by December of this year.
CoreSite will be implementing a number of initiatives to bolster energy efficiency levels in the expansion space, including water-side economization, variable speed fan air conditioning units, 95%-efficient UPS units, Tier II generators (lower pollutants than Tier I), and zoned lighting. Each initiative will play a key role in ensuring the data center is highly energy efficient and achieves a P.U.E. below 1.5.
Upon completion of this latest expansion phase, CoreSite’s Northern Virginia data center will offer a total power capacity of 12 Megawatts. The additional private data center rooms and cage-to-cabinet colocation space will feature access to CoreSite’s Any2 Northeast exchange. Last month, CoreSite announced the connection of its Northern Virginia, Washington, DC and New York data centers. With more than 50 networks and service providers at both CoreSite’s Washington, DC-area data centers and its New York data center, Any2 Northeast offers access to over 100 networks between the two markets. Any2 is distributed among the regions allowing customers to peer with as many networks as possible.
