Tom Ray_img

Tom Ray

President and CEO

Tom Ray is CoreSite's President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the company's Board of Directors. Tom has been responsible for CoreSite's activities since its founding in 2001.

Prior to the initial public offering of CoreSite, Tom also served as a Managing Director of The Carlyle Group, focusing upon opportunities for the firm's real estate funds and leading those funds' activities in the data center sector. He brings over 25 years of experience making and managing investments and businesses throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia. Prior to joining Carlyle, Tom held roles of increasing responsibility with the Security Capital Group of companies (ProLogis, CarrAmerica and predecessors to Archstone-Smith). Prior to that, he practiced real estate and transactional law.

Tom received his M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin Graduate School of Business, where he was a Longhorn Scholar. He received a J.D. from the University of Colorado at Boulder School of Law and a B.S. in Business Administration with emphasis in Finance from the University of Denver, where he was a Hornbeck Scholar.

Jeff Finnin

CFO

Jeff Finnin is CoreSite's Chief Financial Officer. Jeff brings more than 25 years of experience to CoreSite and is responsible for the company's accounting and financial activities.

Prior to joining CoreSite in 2011, Jeff spent five years with ProLogis, where as Managing Director and Chief Accounting Officer, he was responsible for overall corporate policies on accounting and finance. Additionally, Jeff was directly involved with ProLogis acquisitions, dispositions and capital market transactions. Jeff has also served as a Partner with KPMG and Arthur Andersen, where he was Industry Lead Partner for the Financial Services and Real Estate practices in Denver. In these roles, he gained extensive experience with SEC regulations, acquisitions, stock mergers, roll-up transactions, divestitures, public offerings and spin-offs.

Jeff is a Certified Public Accountant and received his B.S. in Business Administration from Colorado State University.

Derek McCandless

General Counsel

Derek McCandless is General Counsel for CoreSite. He is responsible for the company's legal activities.

Prior to joining CoreSite in 2011, Derek served as Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel of Apartment Investment and Management Company ("Aimco") (NYSE: AIV), which he joined in 2003. Before his tenure with Aimco, Derek was in private practice with the law firms of Holme Roberts & Owen LLP and Cooley LLP. He is admitted to practice law in California and Colorado.

Derek received his J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School and his B.S., cum laude, from Brigham Young University.

Steven Smith

SVP, Sales and Sales Operations

Steven Smith is CoreSite's Senior Vice President of Sales and Sales Operations. He is responsible for the success of CoreSite's customer engagement, market expansion, and overall revenue growth.

Steve joined CoreSite in 2014 and brings over 15 years of direct and indirect sales and sales operations experience from both the software and communications industry. Prior to joining CoreSite, Steve held leadership positions with SAP covering large enterprise, mid-market, and channel sales. He also held increasing roles of responsibility while at Avaya including leading enterprise channels sales for the US.  His experience while at QCS as a founder and ultimately leading sales for hosting and enterprise application support also contribute to his well-rounded knowledge of the industry.  Steve received a BA in Business Marketing and Economics from the University of New Mexico.

Billie Haggard

SVP, Data Centers

Billie Haggard is CoreSite's Senior Vice President of Data Centers. He is responsible for the design, construction, maintenance, facilities staffing and ultimately uptime, reliability and energy efficiency of CoreSite's data centers. Billie has also served as our Vice President of Facilities.

Prior to joining CoreSite in 2009, Billie was the Senior Technical Manager at Switch and Data, where he oversaw all aspects of data center design and management for more than 40 data centers across North America. Before joining Switch and Data in 2003, he held the position of Technical Manager for Lee Technologies, which focuses on data center and mission-critical facilities.

Billie studied engineering at Louisiana State University and Louisiana Tech University. Additionally, he held positions of increasing responsibility focused on nuclear power technology and maintenance during his 14-year career as an officer in the United States Navy. Billie was recognized with four Naval Achievement Medals and numerous letters of commendation stemming from his work and teachings concerning highly sensitive, mission-critical facilities.

Dominic Tobin

SVP, Operations

Dominic Tobin is CoreSite's Senior Vice President of Operations. He is responsible for CoreSite's operations activities, including CoreSite's Any2 Internet exchange.

Prior to joining CoreSite, Dominic spent 15 combined years at First Level Technology and AT&T, where he held roles of increasing responsibility, including Field Operations Director and District Manager.

Dominic obtained his B.S. degree in Telecommunications Management, magna cum laude, from Golden Gate University. He also received a Network Management Certificate from U.C. Santa Cruz Extension and was a First Class Electronics Technician in the U.S. Coast Guard.

Brian Warren

SVP, Product & Marketing

Brian Warren is CoreSite's Senior Vice President of Marketing, Product and Sales Engineering. Brian joined CoreSite in 2011 and brings 15 plus years of product management, strategy and marketing experience in the communications industry. Prior to joining CoreSite, Brian held leadership positions with Level 3 Communications’ covering Internet and peering, offer management and corporate strategy. Brian’s experience includes roles of increasing responsibility at both incumbent and competitive communications companies as well as strategy consulting across the industry. Brian started his career as a United States Air Force officer working with NORAD on National Missile Defense programs. Brian received a M.B.A. from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern and B.S. in Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy.

Veena Bricker

SVP, Human Resources

Veena Bricker, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, joined CoreSite in 2012. She brings over 20 years of experience to Coresite and is responsible for all facets of our human capital.

Prior to joining CoreSite she held a number of roles over her 8 years at Avaya including leading worldwide talent acquisition and the integration selection process for the Nortel acquisition which resulted in 6,500 new employees globally. Veena also served as Vice President of Human Resources for McData.

Veena has extensive experience in operations, staffing/recruiting, international human resources, organizational design & development, training, compensation & benefits, employee development, and M&A. Her corporate background spans start-ups to Fortune 500 and hi-tech to consumer products—including Qwest Cybersolutions, StorageTek, US West, Whirlpool / Kitchen-Aid and Baxter Healthcare.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Michigan State University and a Masters in Human Resources from Cornell. She also graduated from the Advanced Human Resources Executive program at the University of Michigan.
